Made with Love

I am smitten with the new Sweet Treats set! I am having a blast paper piecing the apron and playing with all the accessories! For today's project, I decided to make a Memorydex card also know as a Rolodex card. It was fun to create in a different way!

 

I started by finding my pattern paper and chose three coordinating patterns from my Ninth Street paper pack (The Paper Studio). I stamped the apron, oven mitts and bowl onto white cardstock with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink. I stamped the apron and oven mitts onto the pattern paper making sure to stamp the towel portion of the apron a second time on a different pattern. I fussy cut all the pieces and assembled my apron and oven mitts.

I colored the bowl with a variety of watercolor brush pens and set aside to dry. I die cut my memorydex card(Heidi Swapp die) from Kraft cardstock. I added the first layer to the base with antique linen distress ink and the Delightfully Delicate stencil. Then, I distressed the edges with vintage photo distress ink and added little hints of blue with oceanside ink using a small stamp from Going Postal. 

I stamped the sentiment from Made New in ocenside ink and masked off one of the sentiments from Sweet Treats and stamped the bottom half with black. I assembled the card as seen, popping the oven mitts and bowl up with foam tape and adding a little bit of washi tape.

Lovely Lotus Slimline Card

I had this idea when I first saw the Lovely Lotus stamp set. I wanted to create a card that gave the illusion of the flowers floating on water. I wasn't sure how I was going to execute my idea until I decided to create my very first slimline card. I don't think it turned out exactly as I envisioned, but I am pleased with the results.

My card base is 9 1/4" x 4" (9 1/4" x 8", scored at 4"). I cut the layering piece at 8 3/4" x 3 1/2" from Canson XL watercolor paper and stamped the flowers and butterfly on the same type of paper with Ranger Archival black ink. I used Altenew's Spring Garden Watercolor Brush Markers to color the background (dusk, sea breeze), flowers (moss, rubellite) and butterfly (sea breeze) from Made New. I tried a tip from a fellow design team member. After I die cut out the butterfly, I colored the white edges the same color as the background so it blends in more. I really like this tip!

I fussy cut out out the flowers and used the coordinating die for the butterfly. I stamped the sentiment and dragonflies with black ink. I assembled the card as seen and popped up the butterfly with foam tape. Slimline cards are lots of fun, but they do require some extra thinking because of all the space to fill.

To Brighten Your Day

I'm  back today showcasing a card made with the beautiful Lovely Lotus stamp set. When Korin brought it out of the vault recently I knew I had to have it.

I stamped the images from Lovely Lotus and Made New with Ranger Archival black ink onto Canson XL watercolor paper. I colored them with Altenew's Spring Garden Watercolor Brush Markers (moss, rubellite & sea breeze). I fussy cut out out the flowers and used the coordinating die for the butterfly.

I stamped the Delightfully Delicate Background on pretty in pink paper with coordinating ink. This image is very easy to line up and create a continuous background. I die cut the pink and white panels with the Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 from My Favorite Things. I stamped the sentiment from Encouraging Thoughts and small dragonfly in black ink and assembled as seen, popping the pink panel and butterfly up with foam tape.
