Dragonfly Dreams

I love to make cards with sentiments that will encourage the recipient! Often, a card with just the right words on it and some sweet handwritten ones inside are just what someone needs to bring a smile to their face or help them through a hard time. What are your favorite kind of cards to create?

I created this card using Dragonfly Dreams  and Inspirational Word Art 1 from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I made the background a few months back in my first and only attempt with ink smooshing. In my little mini session, I made six backgrounds and put them aside until I could find a use for them. I started with squeezed lemonade, picked raspberry and peacock feathers distress oxide inks. I decided I did not like the squeezed lemonade with the other colors and went over it with twisted citron. I actually dabbed it on more than smooshed it. I like how it turned out.

I had some extra dragonflies leftover from my Dream Big blog post for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps earlier this month. I heat embossed the top layer of the large wing onto blue cardstock with versamark ink and black embossing powder, then fussy cut out. To be honest, this card went together really fast because I had so many pieces to pull from in my stash.

I die cut the smooshed piece with a wonky stitched rectagle die from Gina Marie Designs. Then I stamped the sentiment from Inspirational Word Art 1 on the front with Versafine Clair Nocture Ink. Next, I matted the die cut piece onto black and adhered to my hot pink base. Finally, I attached the dragonfly to the front with foam tape and glued on some sequins as the final touch.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
